Mya’s Marine Groove

In an interview with Miami Herald Mya discusses Escada’s newest fragrance Marine Groove, her 10-day fast, Dancing with the Stars – Season 10, and some upcoming music projects. What do you look for in a scent?
Subtlety mixed with just enough power to excite the senses of another person. I tend to prefer fresh, clean scents that are soft and feminine with a cheery essence versus moody and overbearing.”
Any beauty secrets?
For a lasting scent, apply to your clothes the night before, depending on the fabric.”
Guilty pleasure?
It’s funny you ask. I’m currently doing a 10-day fast for discipline purposes. I very rarely `diet.’ When it comes to food, carbs and sweets. Italian food — pastas, gnocchi — and hot fudge brownies.”
Who are you collaborating with next?
I’m working in the studio with a few select producers on a new project. I’ve recently collaborated with DJ & producer Cedric Gervais on a project which you will be hearing soon.”
Who do you think will win this season of DWTS?
It’s such an exciting show where the stakes are high and fluctuate from week to week, [but] I have my money on figure skater Evan Lysacek or singer Nicole Schwerzinger.”

I’ve added a photo of Mya at the “We Are The World 25 Years for Haiti” recording session last night. Mya along with several other stars are recording the track with Quincy Jones to help benefit efforts in Haiti. Enjoy the photo. The video is expected to air during NBC’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Friday, February 12 (source). Also, make sure to check out our January is Over post!
Update: Below is a video of Mya (along with Quincy Jones and Wyclef Jean) speaking about the project and why she is involved. Catch Mya at the 1:50 min mark. I’ve also added a quote from an MTV News interview Mya had recently about the project. Enjoy.

‘We Are the World’ for Haiti

Mya, along with other artists, is re-recording We Are the World to benefit relief efforts in Haiti. The remake comes 25 years after the original release and will be produced by Quincy Jones. Read the full story below and click here to hear the original release:
It’s been 25 years since Quincy Jones helped gather the biggest names in music to record “We Are the World,” but the song is as relevant today as it was then.
Jones confirmed to me today that he’s helping spearhead a new recording of the charity song with the proceeds going to help Haiti. The new version will be recorded on Monday in Los Angeles.
The line-up may already include Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Will Smith, Jason Mraz, Sugarland, Sheryl Crow, Mya and teen sensation Justin Bieber, among others.

ALBUM NEWS: Recently Mya had an interview with the Las Vegas Sun after her amazing Dancing with the Stars – Week 3 performance. In the interview she talks about her love for dancing, stay in shape, and a February album release!
In addition to Monday night’s first place showing, her music career is going strong, too.
“I just released a mix tape, it’s called ‘Beauty and the Streets’ … and then my album comes in February,” she said.
