Mya Gives Her Dogs Massages

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Here is an excerpt from Mya’s Tour for Life Finale interview with OK! Magazine. Here she speaks about how she treats her pets to massages and gives insight to their personalities and the household chemistry.

Mya pampers her four dogs and two cats by giving them extra-special treatment.

“I give my dogs massages,” the singer, 31, laughs during a North Shore Animal League event. “You massage them like a person, from the feet. That’s where you hold a lot of your tension in dogs, and they’re walking on cement or even grass for that matter, or you take them for long walks during the day. Their bodies get sore, just like humans, so it’s a nice treat.”

She adds, “There are some spas and salons in Los Angeles that do that kind of thing, and actually have units where the dogs can get water massages. It relieves a lot of tension and stress from the dogs. But it puts my dog, Bear, to sleep! He loves it. He climbs on my bed and waits for his massage now.”

Hmm, how do the dogs and cats get along?

“They all live amongst each other in the same house in Maryland. We have a lot of land, so they can run and get exercise. And they love each other!”

Mya Stands Behind ‘Land of the Free’

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

The state of Arizona has come under a lot of media attention because of its new immigration laws (Arizona Senate Bill 1070 and Arizona House Bill 2162). Singer Alexandra Taveras recorded a song called The Land of the Free, which stresses the importance of understanding and opposes Arizona’s legal approach to immigration. Her message has gained the support of Mya and Shontelle. Taveras speaks about her reaction to the support of her peers in an interview with Chris Yandek:

CY: The Land of the Free project has gotten support from artists like Mya and Shontelle. What does that mean to you?
“I’m deeply humbled and honored to have my fellow artists back me up [support me] and to stand for the same thing that I’m standing for, but you know coming from them, such big artists in the industry, it means a whole lot. It really … I’m honored to have them stand by me.”

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Below is a quick interview Mya has done with Soundcheck about her upcoming release. According the article, Mya and producer Junior Sanchez have worked on 10 tracks for the album, each showcasing a new Mya sound and her collaboration with Cedric Gervais, “Love is the Answer,” will be out soon. Read it all below!

While in the studio working on her forthcoming album, pop/R&B songstress Mya took the time to show SoundCheck a little love.

Accompanied by producer Junior Sanchez, duo have already completed 10 tracks for her next studio effort. Think electro-dance-rock vibe. (Release date has not yet been set.)

Says Mya, “Working with Junior Sanchez is an incredibly creative experience – he and his team are true musicians, and we have been having so much fun in the studio – the sound is brand new and completely ferosh.”

Known for hits including “Fallen,” “Ghetto Superstar,” “Case of the Ex” and of course her perf with Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliott on “Lady Marmalade” (not to mention her highly acclaimed turn on “Dancing with the Stars”), the songstress is also gearing up for the launch of a brand new single “Love Is the Answer,” with Cedric Gervais. Track is due out next month and is slated to appear on Gervais’ forthcoming album “Miamication” (Ultra Records).
